This passage in Psalms began my daily reading today.
In light of our discussion, “does everything happen for a reason,” this scripture seemed quite timely. In this Psalm, David challenges his own soul to remember no scheme of man can ever snatch Him from God’s omnipotent hand.
Here is the full text of the Psalm:
Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me; all day long an attacker oppresses me;
my enemies trample on me all day long, for many attack me proudly.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
All day long they injure my cause; all their thoughts are against me for evil.
They stir up strife, they lurk; they watch my steps, as they have waited for my life.
For their crime will they escape?
In wrath cast down the peoples, O God!
You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?
Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call.
This I know, that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?
I must perform my vows to you, O God; I will render thank offerings to you. For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.”
~ Psalms 56, ESV
The following article also showed up in my inbox this morning: “Trust God and Obey Him.” by Charles Stanley. I chuckled to myself as I realized that I definitely need to stop wallowing in fear and start dwelling in trust. Funny how these reminders show up together!!
Are you in a place of fear today?
Do you feel as though you’re drowning in despair?
Is the power of darkness rolling in like a flood?
God is stronger than all of it. Rest in His promises. Confide your fears to Him. God sends His assurance when we need it the most.
May the Lord grant you peace and joy that comes through trusting in Him.

I can invariably trace my own worries to a lack of familiarity with my creator, and that is the result of choices I have made as to how I will spend my time. He’s never done anything to me that would indicate that he is unreliable.

I realized today I am my own living proof of God’s faithfulness in my life. I am here…all is well. He who began this good work will be faithful to finish…where my trust is without borders!

That’s awesome! I wish I could say that my trust is without borders, but to be honest, I’m still in training! The tests I have been through over the past three years have definitely increased my trust by leaps and bounds. I have so much less doubt than I did before and my anxiety is not what it once was. I am so thankful for all the trials for they have taught me patience and trust.

I am far from there! It is my prayer! I believe as Christians, we are constantly learning to trust on a daily basis. He calls us out on that water like Peter. We gain complete trust in one area and He moves us on to deeper waters.
