I am overwhelmed with gratitude to all of you for your prayers and supplications on behalf of my son, myself, and my family. Each of us were blessed with great peace throughout the entire experience and there were no complications with the surgery or anesthesia. At this point, our only concern is for complete post-op healing and recovery.
Here are some pre-op pictures:

After the procedure was over, and he finally woke up, he cried inconsolably for an hour. Up to that point, we had all been quite calm and peaceful. My husband and I were baffled as we tried to determine whether he was scared or hurting. I am so grateful my better half was with me, because his steady, reassuring manner helped to calm my son more than my nervous fluttering. Apparently they had put in his IV while he’d been under the anesthesia and when he woke up and saw his arm wrapped, he started to panic. It was more than fear, however. He had not yet received any medication for the pain and the discomfort increased as the anesthesia left his system.
Even as I felt disconcerted, however, the overwhelming peace of God was my comfort. I have Him and all of you to thank for the composure I wouldn’t have been able to muster on my own.
I didn’t take any immediate post-op pics, but I do have some from after we returned home. His sisters set up a little “welcome home” for him:
They were so relieved to see him safe and sound!
He’s been doing plenty of resting, but it’s hard for a seven-year old boy to be still. We watched a movie, played a star wars video game for the first time, and built a Lego Chewbacca his cousins bought for him.
I’m not sure exactly how we are going to keep him resting for the next week or so, but he’s been a trooper so far!
I am so grateful to all of you—both near and far—for your outpouring of love, encouragement, and prayers. When the Lord established the church, He knew we would need one another, not only to stay the course of faith, but also to buoy us during the challenges of life.
Thank you again, and stay tuned! As I mentioned yesterday, I’m burning up my keyboard trying to churn out the next installment on patience!
Thank you for your update. I’m so glad the little one is doing well! May God continue to bless and keep you and your family.

Thanks, Wally. The recovery part is almost more challenging than the surgery itself. 😉

I’m so glad the surgery was successful, but I’m sorry he experienced such pain in the recovery room. Will be praying for a speedier than expected recuperation! ❤

Just prayed for your prayer requests and sadly I just saw this update; somehow I thought I subscribed to your blog before but I didn’t and just did that right now too

No worries. Sometimes I think WordPress has glitches that unsubscribe people. I’ve had it happen to me with blogs I follow suddenly disappearing from my reader. Not sure why it happens. Thanks for re-following! 😊
