Give Thanks to the Lord: Scripture Writing Plan November 2021

“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 107.1

Anytime is a good time to be thankful to the Lord.

Around this time of year, I traditionally do some sort of thankfulness activities with my kids. When they were little, I made a “thankfulness tree” out of construction paper and leaf punch-outs and each day they would write (or I would write for them) one person or thing they were thankful for, and we would add the new leaf to the tree. As they grew, we continued this tradition in different ways so consistently, that they asked me this year what we were going to do for the month of November for “thankfulness.”

As excited as I am about their enthusiasm for this tradition, I would really love to instill in their hearts that thankfulness is a daily practice, not just a November tradition. Anytime is a good time to be thankful to the Lord. This year, I have been more intentional about saying, “I am so thankful God has done ______________ for us.” (With something filling in the blank, of course…)

It is vital for each one of us to truly count our blessings daily because it provides us with a mindset of abundance. That mindset, in turn, opens our hearts to give generously to others who have needs. Gratitude to our Father also deepens our love for Him and honors Him.

As you write through the plan this month, make note of scriptures that are particularly poignant to you and post them somewhere as a reminder to always give thanks to the Lord for His love, His discipline, His mercy, His faithfulness, and the salvation we have through His Son, Jesus Christ.

  1. Thank you for providing this. It’s the most consistent Bible reading plan I’ve stayed with. I can’t remember if this is the end of year two or three.
