Bible Review: NKJV Outreach N.T. Bible

The NKJV Outreach Bible released by Thomas Nelson is a low-cost, effective resource for any outreach ministry.

Pros

The Typeface is set in Thomas Nelson’s 10.5 Comfort Print, which makes the text more inviting to read for everyone (Many bibles are published with typeface around 8 or 8.5 point). The Bible has a helpful list of New Testament book abbreviations in addition to its table of contents.

With regard to price point, vendors such as Christian Book sell this title for $2.99 each, or they provide a bulk discount ($2.84 each) when purchasing 80 or more titles. This will enable churches or other ministry groups to provide the text of the New Testament to those with whom they are studying.

Another nice feature of this text is that it does include footnotes and cross-references for further study.

Because this is printed on light-weight stock and paperback binding, the book is not cumbersome if you are walking across a campus or city blocks.

Cons

While I do appreciate that the writers of the Introduction (Titled: “Getting to Know God”) wrote a concise overview of the Bible narrative, such commentaries can be problematic. Within Christianity, there are several doctrinal disagreements about the plan of salvation. Depending on your doctrinal position, this section might be more of a hinderance than a help. (I have included a couple excerpts below)

Overall

If you’re looking for a cost-effective means of sharing the text of the New Testament in your efforts to spread the gospel, this will be a great resource for you. It’s light-weight, comfortable to read, and uses a quality translation of the scriptures.

This Bible is available for purchase at Amazon.com and Christian Book.
