Gifts & Offerings: December 2025 Scripture Writing Plan

As a child, I used to relish the anticipation of gifts, whether it was for my birthday or Christmas. As an adult, I find greater satisfaction in selecting gifts and watching as people open and delight in them. Gifts given with love and received with thankfulness are a recipe for joy.

As the Thanksgiving holiday ends and the season of gift-giving begins, it is fitting to consider the gifts we receive from God and the gifts we offer to Him. He showers us with “good” and “perfect” gifts (James 1.17). Do you recognize them? Are you grateful for them?

What kind of gifts and offerings do you present to the Lord? Is it merely what you toss into a collection plate? Do you give Him your time and effort as well? When you make an offering to God, is it gladly or grudgingly given? Is it your best or your “good enough”? Do you give to Him first or scrape out the leftovers?

For December, I’ve selected a small assortment of verses around what God gives us and what we offer to Him. Obviously, the list is far from comprehensive. Outlining all the gifts of God would take far more time than even a single month would allow. On the other hand, the offerings God asks of us are simple: to love Him with all we are and all we have, and to love others.

As you write out the scriptures this month, consider:

  1. What is the quality of each gift God provides?
  2. Is the gift being discussed “deserved”?
  3. What is the “heart posture” of the person giving or receiving the gift?
  4. What is the quality of each gift you yourself offer to God and to others?
  5. What is your attitude about your offering?

I would also encourage you to add the gifts of God which you recognize into your prayers of thankfulness. Please join us this month as we write through these scriptures! I hope it is edifying and encouraging.
