Finishing Strong: December 2021 Scripture Writing Plan

The end of another year is swiftly approaching. Articles and social media feeds will soon overflow with the intentions/resolutions/words for the New Year. It leaves me wondering how many people are continuing to carry out those plans they initiated this past January? Do they make a strong finish or do they even remember what they wanted to do when they started?

Our lives our full of concluding chapters—relationships end, loved ones pass away, jobs are terminated, kids graduate from school—but there is one final chapter which should demand our constant attention. Someday, you and I will die or Jesus will return. We don’t know when or how, but we know that time will come. Will we finish strong?

The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” (2 Timothy‬ ‭4:7-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬) Paul had given the Lord His full commitment, and completely placed His trust in the power of Christ. He approached his finish line with joy and confidence.

Because we know that the end will come (and come unpredictably) it is our job to make each day count!

For this final month of 2021, we will write out scriptures dealing with that final day in the hopes that it will encourage us to remain prepared for the coming of the Lord. I want you and I to be ready to meet Jesus, whenever that may be.
