Today is the 100th day of 2018!
It’s hard to believe we are almost one-third of the way into what was a new year! Many entered the New Year resolved to start a bible reading plan. If this was your goal, how’s it going? It’s important to remember that reading the Bible isn’t about patting ourselves on the back or even checking a box—it’s about keeping the Lord ever before our eyes.
The most disturbing tragedy in reading through the Old Testament is seeing the recurring forgetfulness of the Israelites. They forgot the Lord and all He had done. They forgot to teach their children. They forgot everything important in the face both of extreme adversity and extreme prosperity.
In order to avoid their mistake, we’ve got to make the word our daily meditation. Even if you only read one chapter each day, commit to keeping the Lord before your eyes.
If you’ve not been in the word, today is a perfect day to start.
If you’re in the word daily, keep on keepin’ on!
It doesn’t have to be January first to start a new plan or just to start reading. If you don’t know where to begin, I suggest reading one chapter of Proverbs each day until you find a book of the Bible to study or Bible plan you’d like to read.
Here are some posts you might find helpful if you’re re-booting your reading habit:
Don’t allow life to get in the way of time with the Lord. Listen to the word. Memorize the word. Read the word. Do whatever it takes to keep God before your eyes.
