Last month, our scripture writing plan focused on “Standing Firm” as we are encouraged to do in Ephesians 6:
This month, we will continue focusing on Ephesians 6, but we will center on the specific pieces of armor that God has supplied:
- The Belt of Truth
- The Breastplate of Righteousness
- The Shoes of Readiness
- The Helmet of Salvation
- The Shield of Faith
- The Sword of the Spirit
- Persistent Prayer
One thing I have learned from being closely connected to people in both military and law enforcement is the importance of “gear.” Law enforcement officers are trained to always wear their gear and are strongly encouraged to put it on in the same order every time they “suit up” so they do not forget a vital piece of their “armor.” It could literally be fatal to go to work without your radio, your bulletproof vest, or your weapon.
When we try to face the challenges of this life without gearing up, it has the very real potential of deeply wounding or causing permanent fatality to our souls. We cannot hope to stand firm in this life without the strength or the armor which God supplies.
I have formatted this month’s scripture writing PDF into two half sheets. Both sides are the same this month as most of the scriptures are short! This size should fit into a standard bible or journal when cut or folded. Please let me know if you have any questions or issues with the PDF.

I often use the scriptures from these plans to do a short daily devotional on the Elihu’s Corner Facebook page and Instagram (@elihuscorner). I do post occasionally on twitter (@elihuscorner), but the character limit makes it challenging to say more than a few words. For daily encouragement, I hope you’ll join us!
On a side note: I would be interested to know if there are people who would rather not use facebook, but would prefer email. If you’re interested in daily emails, please let me know. I do not yet have an email list for that purpose, but if there’s enough interest I will start one!
This is really cool, Elihu. I’m pleased you’re doing this. Love how you related the armor of God to having your military or law enforcement gear. My son wrecked his bike once, broke his helmet on a boulder, but he was relatively unharmed. That’s kind of what armor and gear is all about, protecting your soul, helping you come through stuff relatively unharmed.

That’s a great comparison! Yes! And what’s cool about the armor is it’s God-supplied. It’s crazy to leave it lying around unused!
