Yesterday, I posted an encouragement to you to pray for teachers & preachers.
Today, as I was reading the Word, I came across something Paul the apostle told Timothy that goes hand in hand with our prayers for teachers and preachers:
“Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
~ 1 Timothy 4.16 ESV, emphasis mine
Timothy was a young preacher and Paul gave him a wealth of advice. This quote is one of the things we need to encourage our teachers and preachers to do–keep a close watch on themselves and the teaching. If teachers and preachers do not do both, they will undermine the truth of God’s Word, leading themselves and others astray.
Remember to pray diligently for them today and in the coming week!
Elihu's Corner 
Elihu is right on target. Paul warned all preachers and teachers, watch out what you say and how you say it. Saying by example. It’s the same as Paul’s message to the Ephesian elders Acts 20. Be on guard.
