Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
I am thankful for all of you who take time to read my work, make comments, share posts, and offer encouragement. The exchange is stimulating and edifying, particularly in the midst of a world that rejects Christ. I am thankful to have had discussions with Christians both here in the states and in other countries.… Continue reading Happy Thanksgiving
Some songs make me cringe. It's not necessarily the lyrics---although cringe-worthy lyrics abound. Often it's the style of singing or instrumentation. Sometimes it's an associated memory. For instance, whenever I hear Andy Williams' voice belt out, "It's the most wonderful time of the year!" I can't help but groan inwardly. I associate it with disgruntled black friday… Continue reading What the World Needs Now
Tuesday morning dawned, bright and clear. The smell of cinnamon and nutmeg mingled with freshly cooked eggs while a soft, gentle breeze wafted through the open windows. I sat at the dining room table, savoring my freshly cooked scrambled eggs and warm coffee cake. I was home on summer break, very close to returning to… Continue reading Where were you?

Living the life of a Christian is like a long-distance run. Endurance is necessary to overcome every obstacle, including our own fatigue. God provides abundant assistance in this marathon---fellow runners, water, sustenance, solid shoes and some nice things to look at from time to time, but it is incumbent on us to hold up our end. We have to keep running.
I can't imagine how embarrassing that would be to have Jesus catch you sleeping when you were supposed to be praying. And yet, how often does Satan catch us unaware or "sleeping?"
The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the Lord tests hearts. ~ Proverbs 17:3 ESV My children have taught me a great deal about parenting. For instance: when I was a starry-eyed parent-to-be I said things like, "I'll never yell at my children. I'll never say, 'because I said so.'… Continue reading No tests?
This an excellent post from The Samaritan Song's blog. Christ's example of giving really is the best as she so skillfully points out.
